Privacy policy
Last updated:
We built Atlas of Seasons to be useful without knowing who you are. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising cookies. This policy explains the little data that is processed when you use the site.
Who is responsible
The data controller is the operator of atlasofseasons.com. You can reach us at [email protected] for anything related to your personal data.
What we process and why
Server and network logs: when you load a page, our hosting server and our content-delivery provider (Cloudflare) process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our own server logs are deleted automatically after at most 14 days.
Approximate location: to suggest destinations near you, Cloudflare tells our server the country and approximate city your IP address belongs to. This is used for that page view only and is never stored or linked to you.
Search: what you type into the site search is sent to our server to find matching places. It is not linked to you and is not kept beyond the technical logs above.
Email: if you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply and keep the correspondence for up to 24 months, unless the law requires otherwise.
Cookies and local storage
We do not set any cookies of our own and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie when it needs to tell people and bots apart; it contains no profile of you. Third-party content described below may set its own cookies.
Third-party content
Some parts of a page are loaded directly from other providers, which therefore receive your IP address and browser details: map tiles (OpenFreeMap, based on OpenStreetMap), 3D terrain tiles (Amazon Web Services open data) and photos (Wikimedia Commons).
Hotel search: the accommodation map is provided by Stay22 and shows offers from booking partners. It loads in a separate frame, and Stay22 and the booking sites may use cookies under their own privacy policies. If you book, your contract is with the booking provider.
If we ever add analytics or advertising, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent wherever the law requires it before any non-essential cookie is set.
International transfers
Our server is located in the European Union. Cloudflare and some content providers operate worldwide; where data leaves the EU/EEA, they rely on adequacy decisions or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, Turkey’s KVKK or the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Write to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children
The site is a general-audience reference and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the “last updated” date above.
